According the Bureau of Justice, a home in America gets broken into every 23 seconds - That’s over 2 and a half million homes per year being burglarized with a solve rate of only 12-15% depending on the state. Alarms and security

That means 85 – 88% of home burglaries go unsolved and 92% of those are because the homeowner did not have adequate security such an alarm system or cameras.

Here are just a few things you should talk to your home security contractor about.

Asset Protection Devices

Asset protection devices can be a wonderfully economic way of protecting your valuables such as jewelry, cash or personal mementos such as heirlooms and keepsakes. An Asset Protection Device can send a notification to your phone if your asset is even slightly moved. This protects you from contractors or cleaners in your home even if they’re just moving something out of the way. Notifications can be turned on or off via your device depending on who's in your home.

Electric or solar-powered?

Whichever system you choose, make sure it will still run in the event of a power cut – and not just from your utility supplier but also if a burglar cuts your power. You may wish to discuss this with your solar provider should you have one.
