Introduction and Course Guidance for CCNA Certification

Posted on 31 March, 2023 by Radha shetty

Cisco Certified Network Associate (or CCNA certification) is an IT certification exam that certifies entry-level and associate level technical professionals. It assesses their understanding of Cisco technology environments, including cybersecurity fundamentals and networking fundamentals.

What does a CCNA Certification mean?

Cisco Certified Network Associate certification can be taken by technical professionals at either an associate or entry-level. This certification shows that they have a solid understanding of the Cisco technology environment.

Cisco, a manufacturer and distributor of networking hardware, offers CCNA. This test is intended to evaluate your knowledge of the core principles involved in IT networking jobs. This will prepare for network positions such as network administrator, network expert, or network administrator.

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is the most highly sought-after entry-level IT credential. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) tests a network professional’s knowledge and ability to manage small-sized networks. You can start your career in any field you choose with the CCNA exam and training program. Learn topics such as LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, and more at the top CCNA Course in Pune. This certification covers switches and routers. You can also find information about network utilities (pingtracert ARP), subnetting and VLANs, as well as trunking.

There were ten CCNA specializations. Each focuses on different aspects of cloud computing security and collaboration. In February 2020, Cisco consolidated all core networking certifications to one CCNA certificate. Cisco's five-level career path starts with the Cisco Certified Network Associate certification.

Cisco Networking Academy is a network of universities and colleges that offer Cisco training. All expert certifications are valid for two years. Cisco decides whether recertification means taking another higher-level exam or retaking it. Robert Half surveyed more than 3,000 senior managers and found that the CCNA is the most sought-after technical certificate. Here are some benefits to passing CCNA exams.

Knowledge: This exam shows that you have a basic understanding of how to manage a network.

The CCNA exam can help you learn new skills.

Credibility: Employers may notice that the candidate is Cisco certified and has knowledge about different Cisco networking equipment.

CCNA Certification Course Curriculum

Students have four options for training: e-learning and classroom training; digital subscription; private group training; These are the subjects that you will need in order to pass the CCNA exam. Learn more about CCNA Training in Pune.

20% of the exam will be based on network basics

You must first describe the purpose and function of network devices like routers, layer 2, layers 3 switches, and next-generation firewalls. Next-generation access points and intrusion prevention systems. Network basics will cover the characteristics of different network topologies, including spine-leaf and spine leaf, wide area networks (WAN), small office/home offices, cloud, and two-tier.

Next, you'll need to compare single mode fiber with multimode fiber. Next, you will need to identify issues with cable and interface (collisions or mismatched duplexes, speed, etc.). In the sixth section, you will need to compare Transmission Control Protocol(TCP) and User Datagram Protocol. Next, you will be asked to configure IPv4 subnetting.

Next, you'll need to explain why private IPv4 addresses are important. Next, you will need to demonstrate your knowledge about IPv6 configurations and prefix verification.

Next, you will be asked to explain basic wireless technology such as SSIDs and non-overlapping Wi Fi network. In the CCNA exam, you will be assessed on your knowledge about virtualization, switching ideas and frame flooding.

Access to the Internet is available for 20%

This curriculum component tests students' abilities to establish and verify VLAN ranges that cover many switches. This includes access ports and connection ports as well as default VLAN settings. The Cisco Discovery Protocol and LLDP mechanisms are used to assess students' abilities to confirm and establish layer 2 discovery techniques. The next step in the CCNA curriculum is EtherChannel configuration validation.

You should also be able identify and comprehend the basic concepts of Rapid PVST+ Spanning Tree Protocol. This includes root port, root bridge (primary/secondary), as well as other ports names, statuses and PortFast benefits. Exam questions will ask you to compare access points (AP), modes, and Cisco Wireless Architectures. Also, you will need to explain how W-iFiLAN components (AP and WLC, wireless controller or WLC), access/trunk port ports and link aggregation are connected to the IT infrastructure.

Additionally, you will need to describe Telnet and SSH terminals, as well HTTPS terminals. You also need to access administrative connections for APs via the TACACS+/RADIUS protocol. Final, you will be evaluated on your ability configure wireless LAN access to client connectivity via graphical interfaces. This includes setting up security settings and QoS profiles.

The IP connection is 25%

You will be assessed on your ability to read and decode the routing table's elements (e.g. network masks, next hops, prefixes, and next-hop). Your knowledge of default forwarding decisions within routers will be tested by the CCNA exam curriculum. This includes routing protocol metric and longest matching, administrative fare, routing distance, and routing distance.

Next, you'll be asked questions about configuring and testing IPv4 static routing. This includes the host, default, network and host options, as well floating stat options. Next, you'll need to assess your ability to configure single area OSPFv2, including router ID, point/point broadcast (DR/BDR pick) and neighbor adjacencies. Also, you will need to explain the purpose and role of the first-hop redundancy protocol for an IP connection.

IP services account for 10% of exam revenue

Your ability to configure and verify source Network Address Translations (NAT) using both static configurations and pool configurations will be evaluated. Next, you will be tested on your ability to configure and verify the client and server mode for Network Time Protocol (NTP). You will also need to describe the Dynamic Host configuration protocol in the computer network.

Your knowledge of SNMP network operation will be tested in the CCNA curriculum. Syslog features such as levels, capabilities and limitations will be explained to you.

You will be assessed on your ability to manage DHCP clients, relays and other administrative tasks. Your ability to forward per hop behavior (PHB) will also be evaluated. This includes marking, categorization and congestion. This will evaluate your ability to remotely access network hardware using Secure Shell Protocol (SSH). The last question will assess your ability to remotely access network hardware via Secure Shell Protocol (SSH).

15% of the exam will be devoted to security fundamentals

This section of the CCNA curriculum will require you to identify security concepts like cyber threats and vulnerability and how they can best be addressed. You will need a list of security software components. You will need to create local passwords for device control. This will require that you can describe security password rules such as complexity, management or alternative passwords.

We will also assess your knowledge of remote access, site to-site virtual privacy networks (VPNs), and other aspects. This module is crucial because it involves the configuration of access control lists and verification.

Next, you will need to create layer 2 security features. Next, you'll need to differentiate between authorization, authentication, and accounting topics. We will discuss wireless security protocols and WLAN configuration using Wi Fi Protected Access 2. Pre-Shared key (WPA2 PSDK).

10% of the exam is automated and programming

Automation is a major influencer in network management. Next, you will be asked how controller-based network automation compares to traditional networks. Next, you'll be asked to explain the differences between software-defined and controller-based designs. Both types of design have different interfaces for application programming.

Next, you will compare traditional device management to Cisco DNA Center supported devices management. You will be required to recognize REST-based APIs as part of the CCNA curriculum. These APIs can be used for tasks such as "create, read and update (CRUD), data encoding, or verbs. Sevenmentor offers self-paced elearning for the CCNA Classes in Pune that will prepare you for your CCNA certification exam.
