Diablo Immortal also, in the simplest terms

In Diablo Immortal's case, you can use the Legendary Crests (which can be purchased or earned) to increase the likelihood of a five-star gem showing up in the dungeons and dungeons endgame Diablo IV Gold. While it's not exactly traditional in its approach to presentation (most gachas are played by "rolling" on a limited-time banner) it is still playing randomness that they are used to in other games in the same manner. In many ways it is the case that it's like the Diablo franchise was working towards these kinds of mechanics since its beginnings, such as Maddy Myers wrote a few weeks in the past.
Diablo Immortal also, in the simplest terms, takes direct inspiration from an "feeding" mechanic that a lot of Japanese, Korean, and Chinese mobile games have normalized for over 10 years. "Feeding" is the process of increasing the stats, attributes or rarity of an item , by getting a duplicate of a drop. The duplicates then feed to an item of similar rarity, which increases the overall stats of an item. Generally five copies are needed as industry standard to max the character or item.
My first experience with "feeding" was Fate/Grand Order, which was originally launched from Japan in July of 2015. It brought in a total of $4 billion dollars in the world in 2019. In order to make a character as good as it could absolutely be I needed duplicates of each. If a certain banner rolled around I was able to pay over 300 euros for the character that I had been looking for throughout the years. However, I wasn't able to get the exact copies I required to be able to appreciate the full potential of this character. With rates for the top five-star characters hovering around 1.1%, it's an unsurprising that I did not manage to acquire a copy the character while playing the game (which I've since uninstalled). As of July 2021, Fate/Grand Order was the seventh highest grossing mobile game of all time, sitting just next to Konami's Puzzle and Dragons. The latter is, as I mentioned buy Diablo 4 Gold, is also a gacha game.
