PvP Battlegrounds usually involve the opposite faction, ie Horde against. Alliance. However, Burning Crusade Classic has a slight faction imbalance problem, with far more Horde players in general and when it comes to participating in game's match-made Battlegrounds. That was resulting in massive queue durations for Horde players, which made obtaining PvP-related items virtually impossible. The fix Blizzard discovered was to conduct a test over one week and observe how Horde against. Horde Battlegrounds (or in some rare instances, Alliance vs. Alliance) could alter the game.
This resulted in near-instant matching times for players but Blizzard discovered other interesting data points. Many players were participating in complete pre-made groups, which when encountered by players who are not in Discord with their fellow players, almost always resulted in an outcome of losing.
