Shower Water Filters: Answers to Your Questions

Have you ever considered using a  water filter at home, but aren't sure if it's worth the cost and effort?

The choice is yours, of course,  but a shower water filter has proven to be one of the best water purification solutions you can implement in your bathroom.

Although drinking water and sanitation in the United States have been regulated under the Safe Drinking Water Act since 1974, it is no secret that additional filtration can be beneficial. The Environmental Protection Agency reports that more than 300 contaminants  can be found in household water.

For information: Most bath and shower  water contains chemicals  known to be harmful to humans. Some chemicals found in bath water contain volatile organic compounds such as chloramines.

Fortunately, you can easily filter your shower water. In our article, we look at everything you need to know about  water filtration, so  you can decide whether it's worth considering.

Is shower water filtered?

When water is sent to your home from various sources, it filters out many harsh chemicals and makes it suitable for bathing and drinking.

Moreover, even if your water is filtered and purified at the factory, many things can happen when the water leaves the factory and enters your home's water supply. The water from your faucet passes through a  water filtration system. But your shower water won't filter out any other chemicals or impurities you've picked up along the way.

What is a shower head filter?

There are various types of  filters in the filter industry, including built-in models and built-in shower water filtration that help filter water for better health. The shower head filter works the same way as a regular shower.

However, unlike traditional shower systems, this filter has a filter system that removes dirt and softens the shower water level. Instead, the pool filter is fed from the back of the existing  or used sump.

It is important to know what makes a good overhead shower as there is only one good filter. However, before installing any of these filters, you should find out if  your local water system contains any contaminants; This will help you  determine which shower filter to use.

There are carbon filters to wash water and many carbon particles, usually in the form of activated  carbon. The filter removes chlorine and is effective in removing impurities, odors  and volatile organic compounds from water. However, it is important to remember that high temperatures can reduce filtering capacity.

There is also a kinetic decay flux filter (KDF). Top water filters are made of zinc and copper and  use reactive chemicals to remove impurities. For example, KDF filters can remove chlorine, mercury, iron, bacteria and hydrogen sulfide. KDF filters can also reduce mold and grime in your shower.

Vitamin C filters are also available. Bathroom filters  have become popular over the years because they help remove chlorine from tap water.

Can I install a filter on an existing shower head?

The simple answer is yes. However, not every filter will fit in your bathroom. Many people prefer to use a filter after showering. The filter is difficult to install, but  you can keep your original filter for better water  quality.

If you need a simple filter system, you can purchase a structured tube. However, with this type of water filter, once the life of the filter is up, you will  need to replace the entire tub from time to time if there is no replacement.

Does shower water need to be filtered?

While some may not think it's absolutely necessary, shower water filtration your shower is important for many different reasons. Not only  your skin and hair, but also your body will benefit from filtered water.

For example, extensive research has been done on the possibility that bathing in hot chlorinated  water can cause bladder cancer. These studies have shown that many people can inhale trihalomethanes (THMs), which are byproducts of chlorinated water. This plant increases the risk of  bladder cancer.

Additionally, in the study, researchers found that participants accumulated 2.7 ppb of chloroform in their lungs after 10 minutes of bathing. Because the swimming water was warm, the participants had open pores that allowed  the chloroform  in the swimming water to penetrate their skin and lungs. The amount they ate was more than if they drank eight glasses of the same water.

Additionally, another study conducted by a research group revealed that women who drink or bathe in dirty water containing chloramine and chlorine experience health problems. The study concluded that these women experienced complications during their pregnancies, including stillbirth, spontaneous abortion, premature birth, and various  disabilities.

As you can see, it is possible to install a  water filter for swimming.

There are many good filters  available, such as Home Water Filters  that  remove  99% of the chlorine from  your tap water.

Whole house water filters do not remove THM from your water due to high water pressure. Fortunately, if you use a water filter that combines activated carbon with KDF 55, you can reduce large amounts of THMs and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in your shower water.
