Geometry Dash is a music platforming game series developed by Robert Topala, featuring side-scrolling gameplay. It initially launched on August 13, 2013, for iOS and Android, followed by Windows and macOS versions on December 22, 2014. In this game, players direct an icon through music-based levels, avoiding obstacles like spikes.

The series includes 26 levels, with 22 being auto-scrolling and 4 classified as 'platformer' levels, all created by the developer, RobTopGames. Notably, Scratch Geometry Dash incorporates a level creation system allowing players to design custom levels, share them online, and engage with levels crafted by fellow players. In-game currency, including stars, moons, coins, orbs, or diamonds, can be earned from various sources such as completing levels, user-generated levels, or chests.

Additionally, the series includes three spin-off games: Geometry Dash Meltdown, Geometry Dash World, and Geometry Dash SubZero.

The inception of the game was an open-ended project, as Topala explained that there was no specific direction initially. It started as a basic template featuring a cube capable of crashing and jumping, and there was no elaborate plan in place. Initially developed for the computer, Topala later shifted gears, aiming to transform it into a mobile game. Inspired by The Impossible Game, he spent approximately four months developing the game and subsequently released it on the App Store and Google Play Store. Initially named Geometry Jump in the beta version, it was later rebranded as Geometry Dash. The game is built on the Cocos2d game engine.

Upon its launch, the free version of Geometry Dash offered seven playable levels, with additional levels introduced in subsequent updates, totaling sixteen. The game gained widespread popularity globally, notably in Canada, where it earned the distinction of being the most popular paid iPhone app in June 2014. Geometry Dash has multiple free versions, with Geometry Dash Lite being one of them, encompassing the initial 16 levels from the full version.
